Welcome

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is a
well-established, national organisation with more than 90,000 members, which aims to promote traditional real
ale and pubs.
CAMRA is organised into local branches run by volunteers; you have reached the home page of the
York branch, Yorkshire's oldest. We cover an extensive geographical area, which includes
Selby, Tadcaster and rural parts of North and East Yorkshire, as well as the city of York itself. Our 600 members
participate in a lively programme of social events, produce a regular
newsletter and stage an annual
beer festival.
Any feedback on the site or queries about York CAMRA should be directed to the appropriate contact.
News and Campaigns
York Camra's first Ale Trail launches on Friday 3rd July 2009.
Have a look at the Ale Trail page for full details.
With the most recent Beer & Pub Association report highlighting that 39 pubs are closing every week, CAMRA has to do more than ever to support local pubs through these difficult times.
CAMRA's own research shows that 84% of people believe a pub is as essential to village life as a shop or post office. Despite their popularity pubs are still under threat and need our help.
CAMRA is calling on everyone to join the Save Our Pubs campaign to put a stop to the closure of British pubs.
Information on our weeks of action and activities, forums and available resources can be found here.

Do you think it's right that...
- 39 pubs are closing every week?
- 8 out of 10 pints served contain less than 100% liquid?
- small brewers struggle to find a market for their products?
Of course you don't and nor do we. To find out more about real ale, campaign for
greater consumer choice and help to safeguard the future of British beer and pubs
join CAMRA, today and help us get to
our target of 100,000 members.

CAMRA believes that if you pay for a pint of beer then that is what you should get - a full pint of liquid.
Contact Trading Standards to report any pub
which consistently serves short measure.
