LocAle is a new campaign launched in February 2008 by York CAMRA, based on an original scheme devised by Nottingham CAMRA. It aims to promote local brewers and to help the environment at the same time.
It's very simple: we offer accrediatation to pubs which commit to sell a locally produced real ale at all times. Our schemes stipulates that the beer should ideally come from within 25 miles of the pub.
We are producing leaflets, posters, pump toppers, window stickers (below) and beer mats to help drinkers spot a LocAle pub.
The launch event was held at Brigantes in York on Tuesday 19th February. CAMRA members, licensees and brewers came along to find out more. Some licensees signed up on the night - see below for a list of our inaugural supporters.
