We organise a wide variety of social events, e.g. pub crawls (on foot and by bike), brewery visits, presentations to our Pubs of the Season. We also hold a monthly branch meeting. At these, there's a concise agenda, but the formal business never lasts long and is conducted in a fairly light-hearted way. We discuss anything and everything to do with beer and pubs. Come along and swap pub and brewery news, help us choose our Pubs of the Season, find out about our plans for social events, get your hands on Ouse Boozer as soon as it is published and generally discover what makes the branch tick. There is always plenty of time for socialising during the evening and newcomers are always welcome. Forthcoming Branch Events Tuesday November 24th – Branch meeting, Brigantes, 8.30pm. Saturday November 28th – Cropton Beer Festival. Bus leaves 11am, back at 5pm, cost TBC. Friday December 4th – Friday Five pub crawl calling at: Fox 7.30pm; Crystal Palace 8.15pm; Bay Horse, Blossom Street, 8.45pm; Punch Bowl, Blossom Street 9.15pm; Brigantes 9.45pm. Saturday December 5th – Annual trip to Beverley. Coach departs 4pm, return from Beverley 10pm. Cost TBC. Friday December 11th – Rook & Gaskill 4th Anniversary Beer Festival 8pm (festival starts 5pm Wednesday 9th and runs to Sunday 12th: should still be plenty of beer on the Sunday). Wednesday December 16th – Town Winter Pub of the Season presentation to the Minster Inn, Marygate, 8pm. Tuesday December 29th – City centre Festive Four, calling at: Three-Legged Mare 7.30pm; Guy Fawkes 8.15pm; Yorkshire Terrier 9pm; Pivo 9.45pm. Tuesday January 5th – Branch meeting, Brigantes, 8.30pm. Saturday January 9th – Visit to Saltaire Brewery to present Beer of the Festival award. Brewery open 12–2 pm, free tour (normally £5), beer in visitor centre bar £2 per pint. Then to the Junction, Baildon, Bradford CAMRA Pub of the Year 2009. 10.45am train from York to Shipley (change at Leeds), off peak return £12.20. Wednesday January 13th – Country Winter Pub of the Season presentation to the Greyhound, Riccall, 8.30pm. Bus leaves at 7pm, back in York around 10.45pm, £5. Tuesday January 26th – Branch meeting followed by Annual General Meeting, Bay Horse, Marygate 8.30 pm. Friday January 29th – Visit to Easingwold, start George Hotel 7.45pm. Bus leaves 7pm, return to York by 11pm. Cost TBC. Please come and join the crawl if you live locally! Friday February 5th – Friday Five pub crawl calling at: Edinburgh Arms 7.30pm; Sea Horse 8pm; Phoenix 8.30pm; Red Lion 9.15pm; Golden Lion 9.45pm. Saturday February 20th – Visit to Jemmy Hirst, Rawcliffe (Doncaster CAMRA Pub of the Year 2009) plus LocAle trip south east of York to: Kings Head, Barmby-on-the-Marsh; Boot & Shoe, Ellerton; Ferry Boat Inn, Thorganby; Half Moon, Newton on Derwent; St. Vincent Arms, Sutton upon Derwent. Final itinerary and timings TBC. Bus departs 11.30am. Cost £5. Tuesday February 23rd – Branch meeting, Brigantes, 8.30pm.
