Look out for LocAle!

Wheatsheaf, Burn

Wheatsheaf

The Wheatsheaf at Burn is a genuine free house on the A19, just south of Selby. They stock four guest beers, supporting local micro breweries: a beer from Brown Cow at Barlby (only three miles away) is nearly always available. The regular beers are John Smith’s Cask and Timothy Taylor’s Best.

It's been our Country Pub of the Season three times, most recently in Spring 2007, and was one of the first pubs to sign up to the LocAle scheme on the launch night. It has been the venue for the Selby Beer Festival in recent years (in a marquee) and Andy and Jo have run a series of smaller beer festivals in the pub itself.

The interior has been opened out and the pub is adorned with memorabilia of 578 Squadron stationed at Burn and an array of antiques, knick-knacks and bottles of beer. There's also a smaller room off to the side with a pool table and TV. Food is served lunch times and Thursday to Saturday evening. Dogs are welcome.

Visit the Wheatsheaf's website.
